“Getting yourself out the door is often the hardest part of many workouts.” This is a topic I speak about often with tired athletes in the midst of a hard training block. It is also a good example of using the pronoun yourself.
Amaze Your Self is a different use of the words your and self, focused on the noun self. Defined as “A person’s essential being that distinguishes them from others.”
I created Amaze Your Self coaching specifically to help individuals take on and accomplish goals and challenges that will amaze the true inner you, your Self.
With so much noise in our world and lives today connecting with and speaking direct to our self is both harder to do and happens with intention too infrequently.
I find this true even with focused, driven individuals, in life overall and athletics and business specifically. A “one size fits all” training program or grinding away at the same old job that does nothing to address your real goals, passions and calling are everyday examples of what I am talking about here.
If you are in either of these categories ask yourself this – “Why am I doing what I am doing right now?” “What is the point of this specific workout (or task at work)?”
More importantly answer this; “Is what I am doing right now (insert workout or task at work) an important, meaningful step towards my purpose?”
If the answer is “I don’t know” you would serve your self well to find out!
If the answer is “no” you are certainly not helping your self and owe it to your self to change shit up and NOW!
Amaze Your Self is here to help you do just that.
If you are just grinding through the motions, trying to figure out where to start or ready to rise to a meaningful challenge here is a simple exercise to help you get on the right track, right now.
Write down or type your answers to these questions –
If I could accomplish 1 big amazing thing athletically what would it be?
If I could accomplish 1 big amazing thing in life what would it be?
Now, answer for each question above these two things.
What am I waiting for?
How pissed off would I be if I learned tomorrow I was going to die and not have the opportunity to doing either amazing thing before I am gone?
Read back through your answers and make any changes or adjustments to your two amazing accomplishments list.
Lastly, ask your self again – How pissed off would I be if I learned tomorrow I was going to die and not have the opportunity to doing either amazing thing before I am gone?
What are you waiting for?
