Thank God, I made it!

Thank God, I made it. Another trip around the sun, my 53rd.

I take this day to reflect on where I’ve been, what I’ve done and more importantly where I am headed and why.

It is my own New Years – in the New Year’s tradition I use the day to set new goals and objectives for my new year.

The framework for this self-assessment and directorate is this favored quote:

I would challenge you to do the same.

I read recently something like this –

“The best part of being 50 is you are now a 20-year-old with 30 years of experience.”

Reflecting today I realize how true this is – and like we also all have read – the older we get the more we understand what is most valuable in our lives. Our health and our time.

While I am not condoning living an irresponsible life – I am encouraging you, challenging you, to incorporated the above credo. I predict the older you get the more satisfaction and relevance it provides.

On your birthday, or in honor of the new year, Christmas or today take ½ an hour for yourself and do this exercise and write down your answers.

Risk. What is something I view as risky and those around me view even more so that I would like to challenge myself to overcome?

Care. What really matters to me, what do I really care about? What will I do about it – to make a difference?

Dream. What is my big dream for this new year? What am I willing to sacrifice to make it happen?

Expect. What expectation do I want to place on myself this year that will truly challenge me to Amaze My Self?

When that’s all done spend time refining your answers making them clear and concise.

When it’s done write it down and stick it on your bathroom mirror and review it each time you stand there.

If you want to add to the “risk” and truly hold yourself accountable make it public. Share it with your family and friends.

Here is mine as an example.

Risk – Transition from 2 years of serious cycling back to running and triathlon in the midst of building my coaching business.

Care – Commit myself to helping others Amaze themselves athletically and or professionally.

Dream – That I will complete a sub 5 hour ½ ironman in 2018

Expect – To qualify for Ironman 70.3 championships in 2018 or 2019

If you need additional support or help along the way Amaze Your Self is here for you. Send me your list or shoot me a message – morgan@amazeyourself.life

My birthday gift to you,

Morgan Murri
